BRAIN RULES
BY
JOHN MEDINA

12 principles for surviving and thriving at Work, Home and School

In June, visiting my father in Portland we made a Stop at Powell's Books, one of my favorite bookstores. I highly recommend it, next time you're in Portland. It's not much of a secret, taking up an entire city block. Personally, I am not much of a fiction book reader. I found myself wandering through the cognitive science section and I picked up "Brain Rules" by John Medina. He makes some excellent points about how unique each of our brains are and highlighting topics such as...

...Exercise improves cognition. Every brain is wired differently. We are designed never to stop learning and exploring. Memories are volatile and susceptible to corruption. Sleep is powerfully linked with the ability to learn. Vision trumps all of the other senses. Stress Changes the way we learn.
